B-Day Ding — Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of B-Day Ding (“the app”), operated by Syntopia (“we”, “us”). By using the app you agree to them.
1. The app
B-Day Ding helps you record birthdays and receive reminders. It stores your data locally on your device.
2. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these terms and the app store’s terms.
3. Pro purchase
The app is free to download. An optional one-time in-app purchase (“Pro”) unlocks additional features. Purchases are processed by Google Play and are subject to Google Play’s terms. Prices are shown before purchase. Because Pro is a one-time digital unlock delivered immediately, purchases are generally non-refundable except where required by law or under Google Play’s refund policy. Refund requests are handled through Google Play.
Pro does not include unlimited use of the screenshot reader. That feature is capped as described in section 4, and those caps are part of what you are agreeing to when you buy Pro. Every other Pro feature is unlimited.
4. Reading birthdays from a screenshot: limits
The optional “Read from a screenshot” feature sends your image to an external AI service that we pay for per image. Because that cost is real and per-use, the feature is capped — unlike the rest of the app.
- Without Pro: 2 successful reads, in total, for as long as you use the app. This is not a monthly allowance and it does not reset.
- With Pro: 5 further successful reads on top of the free ones — 7 in total, for as long as you use the app. These also do not reset monthly.
- A read only counts if it succeeds. If it fails or returns nothing, it is not deducted.
- Very large images may be rejected before they are read.
We also apply an overall monthly ceiling across all users to keep our costs predictable. In the unlikely event it is reached, the feature is briefly unavailable for everyone — including Pro users — until the next month. This does not affect any other part of the app.
These numbers are current as of the date at the top of this page. If we change them we will update this page, and we will not reduce the number of reads already available to someone who has bought Pro.
The rest of the app — storing birthdays, reminders, importing from Contacts, Calendar or a calendar file — runs entirely on your device and is not capped or metered in any way.
5. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for the data you enter and for keeping your own backups. You agree not to misuse the app, reverse engineer it except as permitted by law, or use it in violation of applicable laws.
6. No warranty
The app is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. Reminders depend on your device and operating system; we do not guarantee that every notification will be delivered on time, and you should not rely on the app for critical reminders.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for missed reminders, lost data, or data you failed to back up. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
8. Changes
We may update the app and these terms. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Bulgaria, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
